House Ratings

Cong. Eric Massa’s (D) retirement creates another open seat opportunity for Republicans. Massa was headed for a competitive race this year, but without him, New York’s 29th District is considerably more vulnerable for the Democrats.
Sen. John McCain won the district 51%-48% in 2008 and George W. Bush won it twice by at least 10 points. Former Corning Mayor Tom Reed has been the likely GOP nominee to this point. We’ll see who the Democrats get to replace Massa, but we’re moving the race from Lean Democratic to Toss-Up.
